4 Night Silent UK Meditation Retreat

TUESDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER 2025  - SATURDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER 2025
THE COACH HOUSE, SHARPHAM TRUST, DEVON

This retreat is created for those who wish to explore meditation more deeply although, each evening there will be a long two hour Yin Yoga practice each evening to stretch our mind, body and breath.

In our time together, we will be exploring turning the three wheels of the Lower, Middle and Upper Dantiens through a blend of Pranayama and Meditation. These techniques are seemingly simple yet unbelievably effective in their ability to take you into the deeper throws of the whole practice.

Each morning we will meet for Meditation where the focus is to place our attention at a particular point, to go in and learn to stay in. We break for breakfast and then return to the hall for Pranayama. The focus here is to learn and explore together as a group, ‘turning the wheel’. The point here is to not only be taught the technique itself but in a group practice to learn to bring this tool to life in you in a way where you are free to mess it up, ask questions and ultimately tussle a bit. From here I will suggest you take your practice outside into nature and allow the tool to flow with you. It is here we will experience the wild and free practice of sitting out in nature, where we will commit to staying steady in the natural world for longer and longer periods of time. You do though have a choice and you are free to go and rest by the pool, swim, walk the wonderful trails of Sharpham House estate or simple relax in your private room.

The challenge for this retreat is silence as there will only be talking within the practice hall. Outside of this space the tool of silence will flow with us. For some of you this might sound intense and it is, yet this is a really important tool and it is through this we are able to see our own minds. We have no need to describe to anyone who we are because really, do we know?

This retreat as a whole is actually the most wonderful way in which to engage with your body, your breath, your mind and nature’s ability to support the efforts held within your own practice. We set up our container as we always do and we are encouraged to focus our awareness on the natural world both inwardly and outwardly.

The techniques will be simple with the intention to explore seeing, feeling and listening all the while encouraging us to experience the movements of our breath, the movements of our own minds and the movements all around us over longer and longer periods of time.
